Serie A giants take eye off £80m target as Man Utd quickly swoop in

Juventus look to be at an advanced stage of negotiations over the transfer of CSKA Moscow midfielder Aleksandr Golovin, who has been linked with Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea.

But fear not. This has a potential knock-on effect that could go in United’s favour.

The Russia international has really impressed at this summer’s World Cup as he’s put in some stand-out displays for the host nation.

Tuttosport recently mentioned Arsenal and Chelsea as holding a concrete interest in the 22-year-old, but it may now be that he’s set to join Juventus instead.

According to Goal, the Serie A champions have agreed on a contract with Golovin, though talks with his club are ongoing as they haggle over his transfer fee.

They add that Serbia international Sergej Milinkovic-Savic isn’t currently considered a realistic target for the Turin outfit due to their high asking price.

The young Lazio star has been continuously liked with United by the Daily Mail, suggesting he could leave for £80 million, so we can be happy about Juventus’ attention wondering elsewhere, even if it does mean they’d be getting the brightest player from the Russia side.

Hopefully, if that does happen, he turns out to be another Andrey Arshavin.

Juventus have already signed former Liverpool central midfielder Emre Can which may also be encouraged to hear for United fans, knowing the Italians are now very well stocked in the central department and have no actual need to splash money out on Milinkovic-Savic.

Come on, United. Get it done…
