Spurs have long-term interest in Man Utd starlet, claims Sky Sports News reporter

Tottenham Hotspur have a long-standing interest in Manchester United forward Anthony Martial, according to Peter Graves.

The Reds’ forward has struggled to hold down a regular starting spot under Jose Mourinho.

United signed Martial in a £36 million deal from Ligue 1 outfit AS Monaco in the 2015 summer transfer window.

Martial, 22, scored 19 times under Louis van Gaal in the 2015/16 season but has struggled since Mourinho came in.

He was omitted from the France squad for the World Cup due to his lack of playing time and inconsistent performances.

Spurs have been linked with a potential move to sign Martial in order to help the French startled kick-start his career again.

Sky Sports News reporter Graves has underlined Spurs’ interest in the striker.

“We understand there is interest from Spurs in the layer over the last couple of years,” Graves told the Transfer Talk podcast.

Spurs finished a place behind United in the Premier League last season (3rd) and will be looking to go at least one step further when it all kicks off again.

United’s campaign ended with an FA Cup final defeat against Chelsea and without a single trophy. That certainly needs to change next season.
