£132.2m star would rather join Man Utd than Bayern Munich

Gareth Bale was understandable frustrated last season when his playing time at Real Madrid was reduced by Zinedine Zidane. For what reason exactly, we don’t know and can only presume it had something to do with the forward’s injury concern.

The Wales superstar has a better fitness record this calendar year, but Zidane still overlooked Bale in the big games, with the 28-year-old making only one start in the Champions League in 2018. He was replaced at half-time as Madrid went on to beat Juventus 3-1.

Bale made his biggest statement yet when he came off the bench against Liverpool in the Champions League final and went on to score a match-winning brace.

Then after the match, Bale expressed his unhappiness over the game time issue and admitted he would speak with his agent before deciding on his future.

However, with Zidane’s exit there is more a chance of Bale remaining in the Spanish capital. He will now look to have a meeting with new manager Julen Lopetegui to see whether he’s part of his plans.

According to our friends at Sport Witness, Spanish newspaper AS claim Manchester United and Bayern Munich are interested in signing Bale. They also state the Reds are willing to make him the highest paid player in the Premier League.

Moreover, the report claims that Bale would rather join United over Bayern, if he leaves Madrid. The Manchester Evening News also claim the La Liga giants will “listen to offers in excess of €150m [£132.2m] for star winger Gareth Bale”.

A brief spell of doubt crossed my mind after reading that because Bale the highest paid footballer in England is fine as long as previous injuries don’t reoccur. Otherwise, we’d be paying someone ridiculous money to book up the treatment room.
