Real Madrid eye Lukaku as priority target to replace 30-year-old

Real Madrid are reportedly keen on the potential transfer of Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku to replace Karim Benzema.

That’s according to Diario Gol, who discuss various possible exchange deals and players who could move between both clubs this summer.

There has been speculation surrounding United trying to re-sign Cristiano Ronaldo from Madrid, and the same media outlet state that Los Blancos could be open to such a deal if they’re able to land Lukaku in return as they view the Belgian as an ideal replacement for Benzema up front.

However, United are not going to be prepared to let Lukaku go after just signing him a year ago. Jose Mourinho will be hoping the 25-year-old continues scoring goals to become a big player for the club.

The Reds have also been linked with a move for Gareth Bale, who admitted shortly after winning the Champions League last month that he’d reconsider his future in the Spanish capital unless he was promised more game time and to feature more regularly in big games.

It would be a shame to loose Lukaku and I don’t see anything worth believing in this story. He’s had a go start to the World Cup — scoring a brace against Panama — so it’s only a matter of linking whatever players are performing with somewhat potential destinations.

The La Liga giants are one of few clubs that are capable of affording United’s Lukaku. And, no, we don’t want Benzema.
