£60m bid being prepared to take Premier League winner to Man Utd

Manchester United are reportedly preparing a £60 million bid to bring Willian to Old Trafford this summer, with manager Jose Mourinho having been linked with an approach for his former player for the past year.

Willian worked under Mourinho for two-and-half years at Chelsea from 2013 until 2015, winning the Premier League title in 2014/15. And the Brazilian was one of a few Chelsea stars who didn’t appear to turn on the manager the following season.

According to the Daily Mail, United are seen to pay £60 million for Willian after already making inquiries to Chelsea during the January transfer window.

Chelsea were unwilling to sell at the time, which maybe had a lot to do with mistakenly letting Nemanja Matic join United a year ago, but it is now being suggested Willian could be interested in a new challenge after falling out with Antonio Conte, as per the Independent.

He managed 25 goals and assists in 55 appearances in 2017/18, but only 20 of his 37 Premier League appearances came as a starter.

Willian would improve United and offer more balance to Mourinho’s side, despite turning 30-years-old on the eve of the new season. The Reds were too pedestrian in attack last season.

With Alexis Sanchez on the left, Romelu Lukaku played through the centre and Willian on the right, United could create yet another great attacking force.
