Mourinho holds talks to sign star he believes would win Ballon d’Or at Man Utd

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has reportedly urged Gareth Bale to join him at Old Trafford by promising that the Real Madrid forward would win the Ballon d’Or under his management.

That may well make a few people laugh considering how Mourinho has managed Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford – two attacking players currently at United – but Bale is one of the best players in the world.

The Wales superstar’s future has been the subject of much speculation at the moment after his match-winning brace in the recent Champions League final victory over Liverpool, which instantly made Bale something of a cult hero at Old Trafford.

Before the final, there were fans unsure whether or not they’d take him at United, but they’ve since been persuaded otherwise.

The latest is that Mourinho has been in touch with Bale and promised him he’d be a Ballon d’Or winner if he were to join United, according to Spanish TV show El Chiringuito, as per Don Balon.

This is a brave claim by Mourinho, given Bale’s inconsistency throughout his time in Spain, as well as an injury-ridden past.
