48 Hours: Man Utd look to get third signing done before World Cup

The Sun claim to have an ‘exclusive’ on Tuesday on Toby Alderweireld’s possible move from Tottenham to Manchester United.

They say that Jose Mourinho wants to sign Belgium’s centre-half before the World Cup starts.

That gives Ed Woodward just 48 hours to complete a deal with Spurs – but it’s previously been reported that both clubs have different valuations of the player, with Daniel Levy believing Alderweireld is worth approximately the same as Virgil Van Dijk, who cost Liverpool in the region of £75 million, as per Caught Offside.

The Sun report:

It is understand (Mourinho) is desperate to land Tottenham ace Toby Alderweireld, with talks already starting between the clubs.

The Belgium star would cost around £50m, which United are willing to pay if the deal is structured in their favour.

Contrary to reports, the Manchester Evening News says United are turning away from Alderweireld.

The MEN suggest United are considering alternatives.

However, it’s been a positive summer thus far for Mourinho and the club already signing two players.

Fred has signed from Shakhtar Donetsk for £52 million and we can’t wait to see him in action at this summer’s World Cup.

They’ve also wrapped up a deal for 19-year-old Diogo Dalot from FC Porto for £19 million. The teenage right-back has been tipped as a long-term replacement for Antonio Valencia.
