Target with €120m valuation hands Man Utd blow ahead of summer move

Lazio star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has dropped a big hint over a possible summer exit, but it comes as a blow to Manchester United.

Reports this summer claimed that the 23-year-old was close to a move to Old Trafford because he allegedly wanted to set new challenges for his career away from Serie A, but that doesn’t add up as new reports emerge.

Moreover, there has been widespread speculation that the Reds will go all out to sign Milinkovic-Savic should Paul Pogba leave this summer, according to the Daily Star.

According to TeamTalk, the player has dealt a blow to United’s chances of landing him by liking an Instagram post captioned “I would like to see Milinkovic-Savic at Juventus”. He’s apparently swiftly removed the like once people began to notice.

Juventus are one of the clubs linked with Pogba and, of course, Milinkovic-Savic, so it will be interesting to see what happens after the World Cup.

United lost Michael Carrick to retirement and could also see Marouane Fellaini leave on a free transfer next month. The club announced the signing of Brazil midfielder Fred, who suffered a knock to his right ankle whilst preparing for the World Cup.

Fans had been looking forward to seeing Fred in action at the World Cup and now hope the injury isn’t serious enough to rule the former Shakhtar Donetsk start out of the competition.

Milinkovic-Savic is expected to be a starter in the same midfield as Nemanja Matic for Serbia at this summer’s World Cup.
