Man Utd and La Liga giants handed blow in pursuit of 27-year-old star

Earlier this week, we reported on another supposed U-turn from Antoine Griezmann. The second of its kind in one year – both involving Manchester United some way or other.

The Reds were very keen and extremely close to getting Griezmann last summer, but Atletico Madrid were handed a transfer ban and he didn’t fancy leaving the club without them being able to find an adequate replacement.

Now, it was Barcelona’s turn to flirt with the idea while United lurked in the background. It seemed to me that their players were getting in on the act too, like Paul Pogba, or Agent P as he calls himself, has done for us.

It works both ways.

Anyhow, it looks like Griezmann has decided to stay at Atletico Madrid again with a reported bumper contract worth £385,000 p/w post tax. That’s according to Spanish outlet COPE.

We can all agree that’s ridiculous money but probably the same sort of wage he would have earned at United a year ago. *Shrugs*

Let us know in the comments section below if you’d still take Griezmann or would prefer manager Jose Mourinho to strengthen other areas of the team?
