Man Utd star to make dramatic u-turn and remain at club?

Anthony Martial has endured the most difficult year of his career thus far after falling out of favour with Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho, but reports claim that the club is keen on agreeing on new terms this summer.

Martial, 22, made a significant impact after joining the Reds from Monaco in 2015 with 17 goals in his debut campaign, but there have been whispers around the club that Mourinho believes the French striker’s development has stalled.

Still, Martial made 45 appearances across all competitions last season, scoring 11 goals and recording nine assists. That wasn’t enough to earn a call-up to the France 23-man squad for this summer’s World Cup, with a significant portion of those outings coming from off the bench.

We think that is more than enough to raise question marks over his future. Martial, quite clearly, wants to be playing every week and that’s the way it should be. He’s far too talented to be a bit part player and, with the France national so competitive, Martial can forget about call-ups if he’s not starting games for his club.

According to The Sun, talks are underway over a potential new contract, although it remains to be seen what motives of such a move are as it’s hinted that concerns over his valuation could be in play.

It remains to be seen whether Mourinho sees Martial as part of his plans moving forward, and I believe that is down to the player proving himself and earning trust from the manager.
