Agent of Man Utd target reveals when decision will be made on client’s future

Manchester United fans may not have to wait too much longer to find out whether a move for Lazio’s Sergej Milinkovic-Savic will materialise.

Milinkvic-Savic, 23, has impressed this season, scoring 14 goals and recording nine assists in 47 appearances across all competitions.

The Serbia international’s physicality and technical quality should see him settle in England quickly, but he is a similar player to Paul Pogba, which baffles me a little.

Surely it would be a mistake to spend so much money on a player if Pogba is staying at United? Jose Mourinho already struggles to shoehorn players into his system and he’s yet to get the best out of the French midfielder.

There isn’t much to suggest Milinkovic-Savic would be a better fit.

However, speculation has een rife over his club future, and his agent, former Chelsea striker Mateja Kezman, has now revealed that no discussion will take place until after the Serie A season finale against Inter Milan on Sunday.

“The interest in Sergej is enormous,” he is quoted as saying by The Sun, who add that reports claim an £80m deal has already reportedly been struck between the two clubs. “But on Sunday Lazio will have to play the most important game of all and it makes no sense to talk about a transfer.

“Until the end of the season it is concentrated exclusively on Lazio”.

Lazio must avoid defeat in order to prevent Inter leapfrogging them into fourth-place in the Sere A standings and thus claim the last Champions League qualifying spot.

As for United, with Michael Carrick retired, midfield reinforcements may well be a priority for Mourinho.
