Transfer Round-Up: 22-year-old valued at £88m linked with Old Trafford switch

Find out who is in, who is out, and who Manchester United are targeting next. From done deals to contract renewals, Stretty News will keep you up to date with all the latest transfer news, rumours and gossip from the newspapers and around web every day.

Chelsea are lining up a move to sign Anthony Martial from Manchester United with Roman Abramovich committed to another summer of spending, report the Daily Mail. They need to do something but isn’t it baffling that they decide now, months down the line with Antonio Conte pissed off and seemingly ready to throw his towel in? Abramovich should have down this after they’d won the league and built on something under the Italian coach. That said, stay away from Martial. United should tell them where to go regardless of what Jose Mourinho thinks about the Frenchman.

During the award ceremony on Tuesday night, Mourinho took great pride in revealing that Nemanja Matic promised to join United before Chelsea had won the Premier League in 2017. The Metro have the quotes for you to scan through but hold up a second and just imagine the sheer delight Mourinho felt announcing that. A giant V-gesture to Chelsea Football Club.

According to Don Balon, as per the Express, United are hoping to land Real Madrid starlet Asensio this summer after the Spain international scored nine goals and chipped in with five assists in all competitions this season. He’s started just 18 La Liga games, so, like Gareth Bale, they’re adding 2+2 and giving us the impression Asensio is unhappy over game time, therefore, must be crying out for a switch to Old Trafford. We’ll take him, no problem, but a touted price of £88 million seems a bit crazy.

ESPN sources claim Mourinho has decided to cash in on both Daley Blind and Matteo Darmian. Both players have made just three Premier League starts this season, which is nowhere near enough for senior internationals. I doubt either has enjoyed working under the Portuguese boss, to be honest.

  1. I haven’t even enjoyed watching United under his tenure so I am sure there are players there keeping quiet about their unrest with him and his antics, tactics, criticisms and style of play.
