Jose Mourinho to consider loaning out senior international

According to The Sun, Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho could send Victor Lindelof out on loan next season.

Mourinho signed the Sweden international from Portuguese giants Benfica last summer, but the report suggests he has doubts over him in the short term.

That’s often the case with centre backs arriving to the English top flight for foreign countries, especially those at a young age, and now the 23-year-old could be on his way to gain first team experience.

Chris Smalling and Phil Jones have both been ahead of Lindelof in the defensive pecking order this season, yet neither really fill the fans with much confidence. I still think Jones, if he could keep himself fit, could be a really solid player for United but many are convinced he’s made from glass. That’s a genuine concern when you’re a centre back.

Lindelof was previously monitored by Stoke City, as per the Independent, and a loan move to another Premier League club would be good for him. The report suggests that The Potters turned down the chance to sign him permanently.

Allegedly speaking to The Sun, a United source said:“Victor has plenty of promise, but Jose is wondering whether to send him out on loan next year.

“Smalling is back in favour and he has some other targets he wants to pursue at the back throughout the summer.

“Victor is now looking over his shoulder. He has dropped off in games while being rotated and that is frustrating for the boss.

“He is happy to bide his time here despite the question marks. The others can be trusted, and he can’t just yet.”
