Red Alert: German club already looking to replace Manchester United target

Borussia Dortmund have reportedly identified a potential successor to Manchester United linked defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos.

We know what you’re thinking: ‘how much is it going to cost to have his name printed on the back of my shirt?’ It’s an incredibly long surname and we don’t even want to imagine the cost.

The 29-year-old defender has a contract until the end of next season with the Bundesliga giants and he is yet to sign a new deal on offer from the club.

Dortmund allegedly plan to sell him in the summer transfer window if Sokratis continues to refuse the deal which happens to be left on the table and with clubs like Arsenal, United and Juventus all hoping to secure his signature it’s probably the best time to cash in.

German newspaper Bild believe Dortmund have already identified a potential replacement for the Greek.

And that would be 20-year-old Dinamo Zagreb centre-back Filip Benkovic.

Reports suggest Dortmund are hoping to get a fee of around €20 million from Sokratis’ sale and are prepared to reinvest the money in order to take Benkovic away from Zagreb.
