A range of clubs have been sniffing around Napoli midfielder Jorginho but reports now suggest the Italy international is in advanced negotiations with Manchester City.
That comes from Jose Alvarez Haya, who on Twitter hasn’t been verified but claims to work for foreign outlets as a Manchester correspondent. It would be unfair of us to question a journalist’s integrity immediately, so we’re willing to trust him this time around and see how things go.
This would come as a blow for Manchester United with the search for a new midfielder ongoing.
Jose Mourinho is about to lose Michael Carrick due to retirement and Marouane Fellaini hasn’t renewed his contract signalling that he will move on for a free transfer when the season ends.
Good riddance to Fellaini some might say but two departures in midfield is far from ideal and Mourinho won’t be allowing anymore leave unless he hasn’t got another choice.
According to the Independent last week, United saw Jorginho as an alternative to Real Madrid and Germany midfielder Toni Kroos. The latest developments, if they’re to be believed, suggest United will need to look further down their list of targets.
Jorginho (Napoli) is in advanced negotiation with Manchester City. His agent (Joao Santos) was last week in a succesful meeting with Txiki in Manchester. The deal is close to happen. @elchiringuitotv @chirichampions
