Jose Mourinho gave his squad’s fringe players an opportunity to prove themselves midweek against Bournemouth in an audition to start against Spurs. Rumours that Alexis Sanchez would be dropped were, of course, rubbish.

Players such as Antonio Valencia and Nemanja Matic were handed a much needed rest for the Premier League encounter and should be fresh enough to perform at their peak today.

Romelu Lukaku leads the line up front after scoring in every round United have played in the FA Cup this season, netting five goals in total.

Manchester United line-up: David de Gea, Antonio Valencia, Chris Smalling, Phil Jones, Ashley Young; Ander Herrera, Namanja Matic, Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Alexis Sanchez; Romelu Lukaku.

A win will book United’s place in the FA Cup final enhancing Mourinho’s chances of finishing the season with some silverware. The Portuguese boss wrapped up his first campaign in charge with two trophies: the League Cup and Europa League.

My stomach has started to churn. Come on United!
