Miguel Delaney claims Anthony Martial wants to stay but Jose Mourinho may have other plans

Despite reports Anthony Martial wants to stay at Manchester United but there’s a feeling he could be pushed over the edge due to limited playing time.

These reports come the same day speculation regarding Marcus Rashford’s future became a concern over the same reason.

Chief football writer for the Independent, Miguel Delaney, says Martial’s preference is to stay at Old Trafford but Jose Mourinho wants to alter his attack this summer which will increasingly limit the France international’s time on the pitch.

Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid are all believed to be monitoring Martial’s situation.

The 22-year-old has performed inconsistently this season which is uninspiring during the year of a World Cup. Still, Martial won’t have any problems getting into the France squad for Russia 2018 but more seasons like this – when he’s not a regular in the starting eleven (since January, anyway) – may see his place with the national side questioned.

Jose Mourinho was close to trading the French striker for Inter Milan’s Ivan Perisic.

While reports in France have stated that Martial has rejected a new contract, Miguel Delaney wrote in his story that he would still like to stay.
