Jose Mourinho is ‘concerned’ that Manchester United have made no further additions in the transfer market ahead of their return to pre-season training.
United secured the signing of Sweden defender Victor Lindelof in early June, but have failed to build on that since.
However, the manager isn’t alone with his concerns regarding United’s lack of transfer activity. The fans are also growing impatient, and understandably so, and they want to see the team progress next season with Champions League football in the bag.
The club has been linked with a number of players but continues to stall when it comes to signing them. Mourinho had hoped targets such as Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata and Nemanja Matic of Chelsea would be signed before July 10 but with 7 days to go, United don’t look a bit closer to making that happen.
According to The Guardian, Mourinho ‘is becoming increasingly frustrated’ at the lackadaisical ways of executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward, who ‘needs to rise to the challenge of securing their signatures before Sunday’.
The manager ‘will be dismayed’ if Lindelof is the only new face on the tour, as he wants players to be ‘integrated as early as possible’ into the squad. That was the plan all summer in order to prepare constructively for the new Premier League season beginning in just over a month.
Mourinho said on May 24, after United won the Europa League against Ajax: “Ed Woodward has my analysis, has what I want, what I would like for more than two months.
“Now it’s for him, now for the owners and the people who work with him [to sort], so I just wait.”
It’s time Woodward pulled his finger out.
