Van Gaal might return for third season with United

According to De Telegraaf, a prominent Dutch newspaper, embattled Manchester United coach Louis Van Gaal has been given assurances by the club that he will return as manager next season. The newspaper also said the club would give Van Gaal a transfer budget worth £80 million to help improve the team. If the news is true, it will affect the team’s online football betting odds for next season.

Manchester United appointed Van Gaal after David Moyes was let go towards the end of a very disappointing campaign. In his first year at the club, there were a lot of improvements and Manchester United was able to qualify for the Champions League.

But this year, the team seems to have regressed, which has led to fans and supporters calling for Van Gaal’s head. Former Manchester United player Ryan Giggs and former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho have since been linked to the job.

According to De Telegraaf, Van Gaal’s chances of finishing out his three year contract are very good, but there is still some concern that the club might have a change of heart at the end of the season.

As one of the most successful Dutch managers, Van Gaal has close links to De Telegraaf, but the newspaper has been accurate in many of its reports about Van Gaal since he became the manager at Old Trafford.

United’s confidence in Van Gaal was given a boost when the Dutchman announced that the team would only play two games in their upcoming eight day tour of China. By making plans for the China tour, which will happen after the season is over, Van Gaal confirmed that he believes the club plans to keep him on after the season is over.

Detractors will point out that Moyes was also making preparations for the off-season while he was still managing United, but he never got to do any of the things he had planned because they let him go before the end of the season.

Despite all the rumours surrounding United and Van Gaal, it is likely that the club will keep him in charge for another season if qualification for the Champions League is achieved.

Officials also realise that while some of Van Gaal’s signings haven’t panned out, he has managed to keep the team in contention in his two years on the job. If they give Van Gaal one more season and it doesn’t work out, the club can move on knowing they gave him every chance to succeed but he simply failed.

If Van Gaal is unable to secure a position in next year’s Champions League, the club will be forced to look elsewhere.
