LvG press conference 16/10/15: Boss pleased with Martial

Louis van Gaal briefed the press on Friday ahead of Manchester United’s Premier League encounter with Everton at Goodison Park.

The boss replied accordingly to the following questions…

On facing Everton, CSKA Moscow and then Manchester City…

“It’s a big challenge because we have to compete in different competitions,” the manager said. “Everton has always been difficult for United in history, then Moscow [in] the Champions League at the highest level. Then we have to play against our competitor, City. It is a very heavy week so we have to be prepared for that. After an international break it is not easy.”

On Anthony Martial…

“I’m very pleased he’s started so well. It’s also good because most of the fans didn’t know him – now they know him and also a little bit about his qualities and talent. Still, we have to be patient with him. He is still 19 years old and he cannot do that every match. That is also a characteristic of a young player.”

On Phil Jones being ready to start…

“Yes, of course because he has already played for me two times for 15 or 20 minutes. Then he plays for the England team. When I want to select him I can select him for the line-up.”

Other pointers consist of Ander Herrera and Marcos Rojo being available for selection but not yet for a complete game. United will be without Ashley Young and Paddy McNair.
