Thomas Muller: An honour to be linked with United

Manchester United have been linked with pretty much every Bayern Munich player since the managerial appointment of Louis van Gaal last summer.

Thomas Muller is one that has been speculated with a transfer to United for a considerable amount of time and has recently spoke out about his good working relationship with van Gaal.

In an interview with German newspaper SportBild, Muller called it an honour to be linked with big clubs like Manchester United.

“When a request comes, you deal with it automatically. A request from a big club is an honour and a reward for your performance is good.”

The Germany international has shared speculation with Bastian Schweinsteiger on the United media circle.

There won’t be a transfer window that goes past without the reds being linked with the best players in Europe, so if Muller and Schweinsteiger remain at the Allienz Arena this summer they ought to be ready for similar reports in the coming years.

“But I feel well at Bayern, and my contract runs until 2019,” he continued.

“There is nothing more to say on these speculations.”

United should definitely test the waters with a few Bayern players this summer. They have far too many good players to all fit in a starting eleven and with the return of Champions League at Old Trafford temptation should be strong enough.
