Report: Roma target Manchester United winger

Luis Nani will return to Old Trafford after a season-long loan at Sporting Lisbon but is allegedly not part of Louis van Gaal’s plans.

According to the Mirror, AS Roma are interested in signing the Portuguese winger.

The report suggests that Nani will cost the Serie A side £10million but it’s the wages that are causing difficulty. Roma are unwilling to fork out £100,000-a-week which is totally understandable.

In November we asked Tom Kundert of PortuGOAL to prepare a lowdown on how life back in Portugal began for the 28-year-old. Sporting Lisbon finished the season in third place, nine points off champions Benfica, but are unable to keep hold of Nani for the same reason Roma find off-putting.

Nani is simply not a £100,000-a-week footballer. Had the potential to be one but hasn’t cut it.
