Thank you John Terry, seven years on

We love a laugh at the expense of a rival which is no different to any honest football fan. Seven years ago today Manchester United painted the city of Moscow red and were crowned champions of Europe.

The 2008 final had it all. Controversy, extra-time, penalties, misery and finally ecstasy.

John Terry Penalty Miss Champions League Final… by kokoretsi

The penalty shoot-out consisted of a mix of emotions. From Cristiano Ronaldo’s miss to John Terry’s slip, it could have gone either way. Le Sulk missed an opportunity to win it for Chelsea and blamed manager Avram Grant, putting the icing on the cake.

But in all seriousness, imagine John Terry, Mr. Chelsea or whatever you like to call him stepping up and scoring the penalty to bring the European Cup to Stamford Bridge. Nobody could believe it hit the post, but when it sunk in we all reached an ecstasy driven moment.

While many of us think you’re a cunt to this day, thank you for the memories you granted United fans worldwide that night. You’ll be forever remembered as the one that fucked it up.

Viva John Terry!
