Scholes: Is Daley Blind the answer?

Today we ran a piece on Daley Blind having all the ingredients to be a success at Manchester United – read here – but it appears Paul Scholes may already be in disagreement.

While seen at Ajax as a defensive midfielder, Blind takes the left wing back role for the Netherlands. Despite being renowned for versatility, Scholes questions whether the Dutchman is an adequate signing for Manchester United.

“I’m not too sure what position he is going to play in,” Scholes told BT Sport when asked where Blind is best suited in the current United squad.

“I don’t think he is strong enough for a left back in England.

“And the only place we can seem to get him into the team in central midfield. He’s a very good footballer but is he the answer? We will wait and see.”

Is he better than what we have in midfield? I would like to think so. That should not be too difficult and I like to think he brings up a step further in midfielder.

Blind is not a midfield enforcer that United are currently crying out for but Michael Carrick is not getting any younger and it’s good to see us planning ahead. Hopefully Kevin Strootman is a realistic option in the coming transfer windows.
