Moyes confirms improved Fabregas bid

David Moyes has confirmed that Manchester United submitted a second bid for Cesc Fabregas and that executive vice chairman Ed Woodward is busy trying to make it happen.

United’s initial bid for the Barcelona midfielder was rejected but a second bid, believed to be worth £30million plus add-ons, may be enough to prize Fabregas away from the Nou Camp.

Speaking today at a press conference in Japan, Moyes said:

“My understanding is that Ed’s had a response and he spoke with them.

“I think we made a second offer but Ed is dealing with that personally, rather than me.

“When you’re interested in good players you want to give it every opportunity to materialise and I’ll do that. I hope things can continue and move forward.

“At this moment in time I can only tell you that Ed Woodward is working hard trying to make the deals happen. We can only hope that some of them fall into place shortly.”

Sky Sports claimed that Barcelona will not make a decision on the future of Fabregas until a new coach is appointed at the club. At the moment, there is a lot of speculation over who the successor of Tito Vilanova will be.

This saga will run into August.

  1. i think moysie has come in for some unfair abuse thus far…at least he is showing some transperancy regarding transfers unlike sir alex in the last few seasons…where united started to appear sluggish and dis-interested in major signings…at least all the major foriegn talent can see now we are serious about bring major world class talent to united…since ronaldo left i think the perception was that united no longer wanted to spend big bucks to get the very best talent…thats the way it seemed anyway with fergie saying nothing to the fans or the media….and united as a consequence lost a bit of its glamour while chelsea and city gained in stature….glamour is important to foriegner talent…and unfortunatly signing micheal owen and valencia and promoting wellbeck was never likely to inspire hazard moura etc to join united…who knows if we get fabregas it may promote us back as the major attraction in england again…good luck moysie i for one wish you well.

  2. Nothing has changed. We seem to be putting in offers for players that we have no chance in joining us. Just because the press say we’re in for Fabregas,Bale,Modric etc I can’t see us getting any of them. Just the gimps way of selling more season tickets. We will end up with fellaini.
