Wayne Rooney will return from his knee injury tomorrow night when Manchester United take on West Ham in their FA Cup third-round replay at Old Trafford. Meanwhile, Sir Alex Ferguson spoke out about the injury Nemanja Vidic picked up at the weekend in our win over Liverpool, stating his captain was concussed.
The club confirmed that Ashley Young’s knee injury will rule him out of the FA Cup tie, and possibly Sunday’s clash against Spurs. Ferguson told reporters: “Actually, Nemanja’s knee is OK. It was concussion. He had a little bit of concussion but he’s OK and fine. He trained yesterday and was good.
“Obviously Young has got a dull knock, a little bit of a strain on the knee, but it’s nothing serious. I think he’ll be back next week. Maybe not for Tottenham but the week after, he should be OK.”
Vidic took a knock to his head on Sunday after scoring United’s second goal against Liverpool. He was then replaced by Chris Smalling with 10 minutes remaining. Young, however, did not make an entrance after the interval which saw the introduction of Antonio Valencia. The England international clashed with Daniel Agger and hurt his own knee in the first half.
Ferguson also stated that Nani would feature against West Ham. The Portuguese has missed the last 16 matches due to a hamstring issue. A lot has been made about his future, but it will be great seeing him back playing on the wing. His return to the game will see a change in the recent odds on FREEbets.org.uk and have a strong effect on the second half of the betting season.
Slightly off-topic, but it has been confirmed that West Ham were offered a 9,000 ticket allocation for tomorrow night by United. They have only taken 1,400 tickets.
