Competition: Win a Savile Rogue football scarf in United colours

Stretty News has teamed up with Savile Rogue to give you the chance to win one of the world’s finest cashmere football scarves in Manchester United colours.

Savile Rogue scarves give a nod to football terraces of yesteryear, shunning in-your-face logos and cheap nylon in favour of a traditional bar design and the comfort, quality and warmth of top grade wool.

It’s the sort of scarf you would be happy to wear even when you’re not at the match.

They cost £64.95, but you can get your hands on a Manchester United scarf by posting a description or video link to your favourite moment from a tie against Arsenal in the comments section below. You must ensure that you are posting comments from a valid e-mail address as this is how the winner will be contacted. The only requirements we have is that the prize is to be posted to a UK address.

You can follow Savile Rogue on Twitter or Facebook.

  1. For me, it’s the semi-final FA Cup goal in 99, by (future to be) sir Ryan Giggs. I was only 12 at the time and in my country we didn’t have the Premier league& FA Cup coverage we have now so I saw the goal at a sports news bulletin and gave me goosebumps. 10 men, penalty saved by the Great Dane, 5 players lost along the way and Mr. Pringles watching the ball going right under the crossbar… marvelous. Later, that summer, the Love for United took over my life, but for me, this is with what all started. Thank you Giggsy!

  5. I still need to search the video at YouTube. But my favorite moment definitely when we won our first Premier League title back in 1993. Still can’t forget the image of SAF and Brian Kidd jumping for joy after the final whistle. I almost cry when I realized that we have finally win the league after so many years.

  7. My favorite memory was when we beat Arsenal 4-2 at Highbury in the 04/05 season with John O’ Shea scoring a ‘cheeky chip’ over Jens Lehman’s head.

  15. Surely has to be Roy Keane vs Patrick Vieira in the tunnel before we smashed them 4-2 in their own backyard. That moment embodied the incredible rivalry between not only those two, but Manchester United and Arsenal in the late 1990s and early-mid 2000s. You could just see it in Keano’s eyes that he wasn’t going to be losing that match.

Gonna go above and beyond for the scarf. Not only will I include the video of the infamous incident, but all the transcript so we can all appreciate Keane at his sweary finest.

    Poll: Patrick, Patrick…
Keane: Every week shouting your fucking mouth off. Every week Senegal this, why don’t you fucking play for them then?
Vieira – Shut the fuck… (pulled away by Cygan)
Cygan: Allez allez (come on, come on)
    Bergkamp: Are you okay?

Keane: I’ll fucking see you out there ya cunt, I’ll see you out there.
Poll: Hey hey hey, Roy, Roy.
Keane: I’ll see you out there. Shoutin’ your mouth off, you. Every week, you, making out you’re a nice guy.
Vieira: Come on then, come on then…
Keane: He’s been standin’ up there shoutin’ his fucking mouth off.
Carroll: Leave him, Roy, get him out there.
Keane: Think he can pick on Gary Neville? Pick on one of us.
    Poll: [Something] Yes?
    Keane: [Nods]

  17. Great free-kick from Ronny in the CL Semi against Arsenal. The distance it was executed from and the technique was exceptional.

  19. Ronaldo’s second goal against them in the Champions League semi. The devastating speed of the counterattack and the link-up between Rooney, Ronaldo and Park. From defense to a goal in 13 seconds. Poetry in motion.

  21. Ronaldo’s second against them in the Champions League semi final. His link up with Rooney and Park was brilliant and the speed of the counterattack was awe-inspiring. That goal, for me, summed up what Man United is all about. Teamwork, flair and attacking prowess.
