Regardless if a QPR miracle will happen or not, Ferguson knows he has work to do. If recent reports are anything to go by, he has chosen to first address the central midfield issue with Dortmund’s Japanese star Shinji Kagawa.
While players may succeed or fail, United are following some proven paths from their recent past.
1. Kagawa is 23-years-old. Fergie has always found it difficult to integrate older players into the team nucleus. And with Youngsters he is usually highly successful.
2. Kagawa has an eye for goal. That has been one of the main problems with all of United’s central midfielders. They have done little to help with the scoring burden.
3. Kagawa is Japanese. Like Javier Hernandez and Ji-sung Park he represents a major market – and in fact a bigger and richer one. If he makes it at United we are talking of commercial value approach in the Beckhams and the Ronaldos of this world.
