Vidic could be back in 6 months, says agent

There’s still a possibility that Nemanja Vidic could return from his cruciate ligament injury in time for the start of next season, according to the Manchester United captain’s agent Silvano Martina who said the Serbian may be sidelined for only ‘five or six months’.

When Vidic landed awkwardly last month in a tie against Basel, there were fears from United fans saying he could be sidelined for at least one year and being our main leader some thought it would ruin our chances of beating Manchester City in the title race.

Vidic’s agent said: “Nemanja is feeling good and waiting to start his rehabilitation. The first forecasts said the injury could last for a year, but I believe he will be ready to go back in five or six months.

“Vidic will be back next year, stronger and better. He tore ligaments, which is a serious injury, but thanks to medical progress, it is similar to suffering a meniscus problem 20 years ago.

“The club doctors assure us that the recovery will run smoothly and that he will be back very quickly.

“Of course, it will take time to get back into the old rhythm, but there is no doubt that he will be his old self again.”

Vidic being injured isn’t our only concern either. Manchester United are currently suffering with a forever growing injury list that has left fans crying out for Ferguson to enter the transfer market and spend money on replacements, in order to stick tight to our giddy neighbors.

Whether this is necessary, I do not know. We are sitting in a nice position in the league with City starting to wobble. Ferguson could also see Rio Ferdinand back for Saturday’s clash against Blackburn Rovers, who held Liverpool to a scoreless draw last weekend. Not to forget how Phil Jones and Chris Smalling are expected to return from illness.
