Six United stars make FIFA World XI shortlist

Edwin van der Sar, Patrice Evra, Rio Ferdinand, Nemanja Vidic, Luis Nani and Wayne Rooney have all been named in a 55-man shortlist for the Fifa Fifpro World XI 2011, which includes 22 nominees from Spain’s Primera Liga – mainly coming from Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Fifpro is the worldwide representative organization for all professional players in the beautiful game. It has been around since 1965 and currently has 43 members, 8 candidate members and 5 observers. They received over 50,000 votes from professional footballers involved in order to announce the nominees. They will select a final XI for 2011 at the Ballon d’Or presentation in Zurich on Monday, January 9th 2012.
