Ashley Young has agreed to personal terms, undergoing medical, and McLeish has given up.

These are all good signs to see, but like I tell all of my readers, never count a player in until they are officially unveiled and are juggling a ball with Fred the Red.  However, Young is undergoing a medical with United staff, has already agreed to personal terms (reported much earlier), and McLeish reportedly said, “When they are back in England I will try and get a meeting with them. I don’t know but it seems that Ashley is going to leave.”

This signing looks destined to happen.  Once the Sanchez rumors started about, it seemed that the old “personal terms” negotiations might have deterred talks and that United were shopping elsewhere.  News about Sanchez going to Barca and not Man City seems to be a good reason why we were linked with Sanchez, and if it was just a ploy by David Gill to hike up the price for the blue side of Manchester, well played Gill.

The official announcement (remember I said to wait for it) might come as early as Thursday, and the estimated fee of £15M is likely to be the final price tag.  This, along with Phil Jones, would conclude United’s second signing of the season.  How this impacts us from here is yet to be seen.

The addition of Young puts us a bit overstocked on wingers even though Young has proven to be multifaceted by playing either wing or as a central striker.  However, these areas of the field already have a queue, so that must mean United will be looking to offload.

Nani? Berbatov? Not sure, but with just less than two months to go until the window closes expect more moves both ways.  Don’t forget my friends, there is a reported offer out for David de Gea (Spain won again, so we will have to wait), and we still have to fill that huge hole in the center of the pitch.

This signing marks the beginning of what I think will be a very active summer.  Question is still the same, who’s coming in, and who’s going out?  We all know that both will happen.
