Manchester United striker Michael Owen says that he is fit and ready to go if needed in United’s upcoming festive fixtures. Owen hasn’t played for United since the scoreless draw against Sunderland at the start of October.
Owen a few hours ago told ManUtd.com:
I’m fit and I’ve been in full training for three-and-a-half weeks.
The hard bit now is getting back into the side, trying to force my way back into the squad. That’s not easy at Manchester United.
Owen see’s the bright side to having tough competition at Manchester United because players do not have to be rushed back from their injuries.
There are that many quality players at United that you’re given as much time as you need to come back from injury.
I injured my hamstring at the beginning of October, which kept me out for six weeks.
Since then I’ve been able to train fully and work my way back up to full fitness – now I’m fit and hope to play a part in the games over Christmas.
Even though Michael Owen isn’t the player he was, I still believe he could prove to be another important player in our current squad.
Players like Hernandez, Macheda and Welbeck should all try and learn from Owen because I believe he is one of the most intelligent footballers to ever play in the beautiful game.
