Ji-Sung Park saved the day by scoring the only goal that secured Manchester United three points, putting them on top of the Premier League, two points clear of their opponents with a game in hand.
Arsenal, the English club well-known for playing like the Brazilians could barley string a pass together. The reason I’m pointing this out is an Arsenal fan before kick-off didn’t see United having half a chance because the gunners were better at playing football. Brilliant football doesn’t guarantee you silverware!
The man of many excuses Arsene Wenger, told Sky Sports another ridiculous one:
They made technical mistakes as well because the pitch is not good enough to play good football. It is bouncy and slippery.
Overall, you have to give credit to United’s defensive quality.
We tried everything to create chances. I thought we were unlucky to lose the game, but we have to take encouragement from tonight’s performance.
Manchester United water Old Trafford the majority of time and I don’t recall any other team this year complaining about it, do you? A wet surface should also be an advantage to a team that likes to get the ball down and play quick attractive football, so is there anything else you would like to add Mr Wenger?
Sir Alex Ferguson was very happy with the back four who were put under a lot of pressure in the closing minutes.
We defended very well, the back four were fantastic tonight, absolutely magnificent. So with that foundation it always gives us a great chance.
I think we’re starting to get there. I think our form is improving. And, as I say, with the back four playing like that, if they play like that from now on and give us the consistency, then we’re in with a good chance.”
We had to play well. I think in these major games you want to perform and I think we did perform tonight, particularly in the first half.
Rio Ferdinand was awarded “Man Of The Match” but I don’t think Nemanja Vidic or Anderson were too far off.
Some said Anderson’s performance against Rangers was his best in a red shirt but after the Arsenal game, I think they could change their mind on that one.
Wayne Rooney I thought had another good game battling with Arsenal’s back four alone up front which is unusual for our number 10, who normally plays alongside Berbatov. Unfortunately Rooney’s penalty didn’t do himself any justice as he drove it over the crossbar.
Sunday we take on Chelsea, the team who look like a bunch of lost sheep since losing their assistant coach, Ray Wilkins. You can leave your predictions for the game in the comment section below!
Nice report pal Park has come on a site this season and it was great to see him get the only goal of the game. Anderson is another who has inpressed as resent also and is a great example to other young playes at he club. With Giggs and Scholes set to hang up there boots soon we need to have young blood who can steap up to the mark which for some of our younger players hasent been the case.
