Match Report: West Ham 4-0 Manchester United

First defeat since I started StrettyNews.com so obviously this is the most difficult match report I have had to write during the past six months. Sir Alex Ferguson made 10 changes to his squad which beat Blackburn 7-1 but the 11 he put out were definitely strong enough to put United into the semi-finals of the Carling Cup.

Manchester United started the game brightly but still allowed West Ham into the game leaving the “hammers” score on the 22nd minute. Most of us were aware of the scorer of West Ham’s two goals, Jonathan Spector, who joined the hammers from United in 2006. The American midfielder has made just three appearances so far this season and the two goals he scored Tuesday night I believe were his first two in English Football.

The Reds went in at half time 2-0 down and Ferguson had no choice but to substitute Bebe for Federico Macheda which gave him the chance of playing 4-4-2 giving more attacking flare into the way we were playing.

But that didn’t work unfortunately because or defence was still a mess leaving Carlton Cole in twice scoring two goals. The 4 goals weren’t all at Jonny Evans fault but the Belfast boy just wasn’t at the races. Evans won the heart over many Manchester United fans last season after he put in plenty of appearances due to Ferdinand being injured. I’m sure the boy will bounce back and I believe putting him too blame for the defeat is total nonsense.

This Saturday at 17:30 we take on Blackpool so hopefully United can bounce back from this disappointing defeat and secure three points which would keep us on top!
