Nemanja Vidic Now Our New Club Captain!

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson says that Serb Nemanja Vidic will captain the team this Sunday against Liverpool. Rio Ferdinand has been the regular over the past few years while Gary Neville was absent. Ferdinand was also named to captain England during the summer at the World Cup but that never happened after Ferdinand picked up an injury just before the competition.

The 31-year old was captain Tuesday night when Vidic missed the first group game of Manchester United’s Champions League campaign which ended up with a scoreless draw against the Scottish Champions Rangers.

Ferguson today confirmed that Vidic will lead out the team against Liverpool, as he has done in all four Premier League matches so far.

Ferguson told MUTV: “As I explained last week, what we wanted was someone who was consistently available for us.

“Everyone recognises Nemanja Vidic would always be there. He has been fit all season and you don’t leave him out of the team unless you are going to rest him.

“He started the campaign as captain and it will stay that way.”

Huge step in Nemanja’s career isn’t it? He came to United a few years ago being the unknown center half and now he’s on the verge of leading Manchester United out in one of the biggest games in the World of football! I don’t think I have to go trough all the hatred that Manchester United and Liverpool share but its a pretty big deal!

Wishing you the best of look in your new role “Vida”!
