Match Report: Manchester United 3-0 Newcastle United

Manchester United started tonight’s match against Newcastle United without Michael Owen on the bench. This left many Manchester United fans on twitter a bit puzzled seeing he is one of our proven goal scorers. Ferguson made it clear before the game that Owen and Rooney still aren’t fully fit even though Rooney started.

Rooney’s partner for the match Berbatov was the first to be on the score sheet in the 33rd-minute with a great finish which he made look easy. Making things look easy is something Berbatov showed when he played at White Hart Lane for Spurs. Tonight he looked a different player from last season, we seen Berbatov track back a little more and making more of an effort which is something we were all happy with. Whenever I go to Old Trafford I tend to watch Berbatov on the ball and off it. He normally walks around looking at his boots but tonight I think its fare to say he was all go!

Second player on the score sheet was the great Darren Fletcher shortly before the break. This put Manchester United 2-0 up and Newcastle never really looked like they were going to score so United settled after that goal.

After half time Rooney made way for new boy Hernandez who got a great reception for the Manchester United fans. Some fans even had their Mexican hats on! A while after Nani was substituted for Ryan Giggs who is still extending his remarkable record for scoring in every Premier League season. The goal came from a floated ball across the box from the great Paul Scholes.

Stretty News gave their man of the match to Paul Scholes which many agreed on twitter. I have already expressed my feelings for the ginger genius on many of our other posts so I don’t want to keep repeating myself!

I thought we were watching a different Rooney tonight, he looked very tired still after having that holiday. Whenever he lost the ball he was getting mad which normally he would of just tried harder the next time he got it. Maybe the fans need to give me more support through this rough time that every good player goes trough in their careers.

I was happy with tonight’s game but going into the game against Fulham we need to work a little on our final ball. Nani’s crossing was terrible but he wasn’t the only one! Always good to keep a clean sheet though so I’ll go to bed tonight a happy man.
