O’Shea To Captain United

Manchester United and Irish defender John O’Shea is set to wear the captain’s armband for United Wednesday night when they play the very first football match in the new Aviva stadium. Sir Alex Ferguson has already said that players who played in the World Cup may take part. The likes of Michael Carrick, Wayne Rooney, Ji-sung Park and Nemanja Vidic.

Ferguson told www.manutd.com : “Rooney, Park, Carrick and Vidic are back in training and are doing well, Valencia is also training well and needs a game. All of them will be involved and Chicharito will also be part of the squad.”

Ferguson also made it clear that b0th Irish internationals O’Shea and Gibson will take part and that O’Shea will probably be captain.

Ferguson then went on talking about the Aviva: “It looks fantastic, it is spectacular, this is a great way to recognise the relationship we have, which goes back many, many years, to the days of Johnny Carey. We have had some fantastic players from Ireland.”

I myself have been at the Aviva already and for a country like Ireland its out standing! It shows how much the country is growing in sport and I hope it keeps on going that way. This game will be shown on Irish tv, RTÉ 2 and kick of is 7:45.

For you going to the game, we hope you enjoy it and might even see you there.

  1. I hope you (and Andy) enjoy the match in the new stadium. With some of the big names coming over, you will be in for a treat. I’m lucky to be going to the Community Shield game on Sunday.
