Smalling Already Making Friends

Manchester United new boy Chris Smalling has came out and thanked fellow defenders Wes Brown and Jonny Evans for helping him settle in. Smalling got his first start last week against Celtic when the reds won 3-1 in their first game back since coming runners up in last seasons title. The new boy is looking for his second game when Manchester United take on Philadelphia Union on Wednesday. He played along side Jonny Evans in the 3-1 vicory over Celtic last Friday.

With both Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic absent, he has a huge change to make it hard for the pair to get back into Sir Alex Ferguson’s starting 11.

Smalling then said: “The tour has been a really enjoyable experience so far. It was great to meet everyone, initially at Carrington. I have spent quite a bit of time with Wes and Jonny , my fellow centre-backs. It is just great to get to know everybody and be part of such a great club. I just want to do my best.”
