Why all this Rashford exit talk is nonsense!

This view has not merely been formulated due to my love for the player or his name on my shirt, but I have been left simply dumbfounded by all this hogwash that has conjured up by certain media outlets that Marcus Rashford should be looking to leave United this summer.

Isn’t that, besides Guardiola’s protestations of all innocence, the biggest nonsense you’ve heard for some time?

Let’s go beyond the bewildering numbskullery of Mick Quinn and Ian Wright, who would no doubt love to see Rashford at their former clubs and are merely stirring the pot, let’s establish what we know:

Marcus Rashford loves Manchester United. You can get the feel for how much this club means to him just by reading his most recent interview, given in the middle of this media shitstorm. He knows he is living the dreams of many a red, knows what the badge means, knows what a once in a lifetime opportunity he has and is grasping.

Marcus Rashford, though you wouldn’t believe it, is a Jose Mourinho favourite. Who has been the outfield player who has clocked the most appearances under the manager? Need I answer it? May be not in the weight of starts, but Rashford is a virtual certainty to appear on match day, and you either sink or swim under Mourinho’s stewardship. Questions about this were posed to Mourinho following quotes from Frank de Boer. You know this response, proclaiming the Dutchman the ‘worst manager in Premier League history’. Doesn’t that impassioned reply just emphasise what importance Rashford has in this United setup?

Marcus Rashford was trusted to start in United’s biggest match of the season domestically against Liverpool. Some will argue City in terms of stopping them win the league, Liverpool was a crucial game to strengthen our foothold in the top four and extend our gap to them. You know the rest, Rashford’s blistering two goals against that lot, the enemy, the stuff dreams are made of.

Marcus Rashford is still only 20-years-old. It is easily missed by many, given he has been around the United team for what seems an age now. That’s a reflection of just how far he’s come. That should be celebrated, rather than this ludicrous clamour from pundits for him to leave. He doesn’t have to look far for inspiration should he have any frustrations- His brother from another mother Jesse Lingard: It has taken him until his mid-twenties to really cement his place as a key player for United and just compare the two and you’ll see Rashford is surpassing all expectations. Time really is on his side and his time will undisputedly come at United.

It seems convenient, given the nightmare week City have had, that United continue to make the headlines with what seem to be non events.

Marcus Rashford leaving United will hopefully be just that too. A non event.

People ought to remember that he can achieve anything he wants to at United and like Manchester, Rashford is red.
