Smalling: Giggs is a role model

Ryan Giggs turned 40-years-old today and he is still making Champions League appearances for Manchester United. Chris Smalling has labeled the Welsh midfielder a role model that all his teammates look up to.

Giggs’ performance in Wednesday night’s 5-0 Champions League walk-over against Bayer Leverkusen suggests the veteran still has plenty to offer and should consider yet another contract extension at the end of the season.

Chris Smalling said:

“Ryan is a role model for us all. He is a cool head in the middle. Despite his age, even in the 90th minute, he was still taking on three or four players. It is terrific to see such a legend playing amongst us. His pass for Nani’s goal at the end just sums him up. He has that incredible vision. He is terrific and an example to everyone.”

All I can do is echo what Smalling has already said. Although, here is a superb piece from Darren Richman which dates back to February – Ryan Giggs – The greatest player to ever wear our shirt via Republik of Mancunia.
