Real Madrid not giving up on signing David de Gea this summer

Real Madrid are reportedly planning a major revamp of their squad in this summer’s transfer window and could spend as much as €200 million on three new players.

Firstly, that’s hardly a major revamp and the three players ought to be of the highest standard to cost such a significant amount. But this is what big clubs at the top do each summer. Whether or not they’ve reached or won the Champions League the previous season, improving must be a constant objective to remain the best. There is no room for complacency.

Florentino Perez is allegedly planning these additions regardless of the result against Liverpool in this month’s Champions League final, and the players on his radar include Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea, according to Don Balon.

The other two players are Juventus midfielder Miralem Pjanic and Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti.

Those signings should see Real Madrid close the gap on Barcelona in the La Liga table next season but, still, they haven’t done too bad this season by reaching the final of Europe’s most prestigious competition.

However, the same report suggests Pjanic has become to prime target due to interest in Toni Kroos from United, but The Independent this week said the Germany international won’t be leaving Los Blancos this summer.

Losing De Gea would be a huge blow for United but Mourinho has already assured us the Spaniard won’t be leaving Old Trafford, as per the Irish Examiner, so they really should start knocking on some other keeper’s door.
