-Also that Phil Jones is fit but will have his match rhythm assessed, while Robin van Persie is available.
“He can play but we have to wait and see if I let him play, of course!” On RVP.
– However, van Gaal says Luke Shaw is out due to a groin problem and Jonny Evans is also injured.
– van Gaal has confirmed Michael Carrick will miss Saturday’s game vs West Brom.
– Van Gaal on seeing Darren Fletcher again at OT: “I like that very much. I think the fans shall give him a lot of applause.”
– The boss thinks United are not far off from being title contenders: “You’ve seen our matches against the top clubs. There is not a big gap.”
– van Gaal on the possibility of challenging for the title next year: “There is not a big gap, I don’t think so. You can judge that when the clubs are playing matches against each other. We are very close to the second position. Chelsea are far above the other clubs but that can be different next year.”
