Manchester United’s season is changing, for the better. There is still a chance that the Red Devils might be able to end it with a trophy if they manage to win their upcoming fixtures in the FA Cup, and while Mourinho might not have been expecting to be out of the title race in the Premier League and the Champions League in August, it is still a commendable achievement for the club.

The club’s improved form in recent days has spelled good news for both spectators and punters looking to place bets on the team. It is interesting to note that betting interest in United has increased in the recent past, especially due to the growth of online betting platforms that are easily accessible and also give out attractive Champions League free bets offers.

Ever since the demoralising defeat against Sevilla in the Champions, Mourinho has repeatedly pointed to the recent improvement in United’s performance, and this was also the dominant theme in his programme notes ahead of Swansea’s visit to Old Trafford.

United have improved in the Premier League

While United finished at the sixth position in the League last season, a second position finish this season clearly reflects the strides that the club has made in the recent past. There can be two ways of looking at this. One that United could have finished at a better position had Jose Mourinho not prioritised Europa League towards the final weeks of this season, but it could also be the case that they would not have finished at the second position either.

More goals scored by United

Goals were a problem for United last season, despite the presence of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who scored a whopping 17 goals in just 28 games. Here’s a piece on how the razzmatazz of the States is best for Ibrahimovic!

On the whole United scored just 54 goals during the season, one shy of Bournemouth’s tally who finished on the 9th position. This shortcoming became a source of constant annoyance for Mourinho, who frequently asked his players to be more ‘clinical’ in their approach. In this regard there has been an upward trend, and with six games remaining, United have already scored 60 goals in the Premier League.

An improved defense

United has the second best defensive record amongst the teams in the Premier League, which is an extremely impressive achievement given that their best defender, Eric Bailly, has only started in 9 of the club’s games in the Premier League. Overall, they have managed to secure 16 clean sheets this season, more than any other club in the league. A large part of this improvement can be attributed to David De Gea, an outstanding keeper who has exhibited tremendous form this season.

United’s record at home has improved

In total, United dropped over 23 points at home last season. While Manchester City was the only team to have won at Old Trafford in the Premier League, the Red Devils drew 10 times, far more than any other season in the club’s recent history. However this season United has dropped a mere 7 points in 16 games at Old Trafford, and only Southampton and Burnley have managed to earn a draw there.

On the whole it appears that United are on their way to regaining their lost glory, bringing much cheer to its fans.
