‘Registered their interest’: United among a host of clubs that have initiated contact with 23 G/A fullback

Manchester United have long been linked with attack-minded fullback Jeremie Frimpong of Bayer Leverkusen, and it seems as though this summer may provide their best opportunity to strike up a deal.

The 23-year-old is believed to be mulling over his future in Germany, as per Florian Plettenberg, with a decision expected to be made by the end of April.

We’re all well aware of the remarkable season Leverkusen are currently overseeing, and Frimpong has been integral to that. The side remain unbeaten in all competitions and could lift their first Bundesliga title as early as this weekend, should they claim all three points against Werder Bremen at home.

Frimpong has notched a remarkable eight goals and eight assists in the league, as well as a combined four goals and three assists in the Europa League and DFB Pokal, where Leverkusen are in the quarter-finals and final, respectively.

Sport BILD (via Sport Witness) adds that the starlet, formerly of Manchester City’s academy, is also on the radar of European giants Real Madrid and Bayern Munich. He has a release clause of €40 million included in his current terms, although this needs to be activated before the Euros begin on June 14.
