‘Demands here are very high’ – Diogo Dalot responds to praise from Manchester United legend

Manchester United full-back Diogo Dalot has responded to Gary Neville’s claim that he has been the club’s best player this season.

The Portugal international has cemented his place at right-back this term with impressive displays, and he warrants plaudits from the likes of Gary Neville.

Dalot has been a constant presence in the team, starting 37 out of 39 games for United this season. His availability has been a huge bonus for Erik ten Hag and that is why we can see him remaining our primary right-back next season.

In terms of versatility, Dalot has even been asked to play at left-back on several occasions, which adds to his significant role in the squad.

Speaking on the Stick to Football podcast, United legend Neville labelled the 25-year-old as our best player this season.

Neville’s comments has been put forward to Dalot, who is currently away on international duty ahead of Saturday’s clash with Brentford.

Dalot responded, saying (via A Bola, as cited by Sport Witness): “It’s always good to hear praise, especially from players who have already played for the club and know what it means to represent a club like Manchester United.

“It’s the result of the work I’m doing and I want to take advantage of this moment to help the national team.

“I know that the demands here are very high and so is the competition.”

Well, the competition needs to be better, especially at right-back. Aaron Wan-Bissaka could be sold in the summer and it would make sense to sign a young right-back to compete with Dalot as a back-up option.

Dalot could be in action tonight when Portugal take on Slovenia.
