Garnacho 9, Antony 8: player ratings from Manchester United 4-3 Liverpool

Those who were in attendance or tuned in to watch Manchester United’s FA Cup quarter-final clash against Liverpool this afternoon witnessed an absolute classic.

Jurgen Klopp’s men were, according to many of the experts in mainstream media, in the hunt to win the quadruple in the German’s final season in charge of the club.

That is a high ask of a side that has one Premier League title to their name in 34 years and United made sure that it wouldn’t be the case this season.

United started well and deserved their early opener but Liverpool scored two quickfire goals late in the first half and held onto that lead until the 87th minute when Antony equalised.

The visitors would take the lead again in extra-time before United equalised once more. With just seconds remaining of the 120 minutes, Amad Diallo marked the occasion with a sublime winner, sending Liverpool home and United into the semi-finals and another trip to Wembley.

Man United Player Ratings

Andre Onana – 8
Two of the goals were deflected and there was nothing he could do with the third. Made some great saves over the 120 minutes.

Diogo Dalot – 8
Great performance from the Portuguese international.

Raphael Varane – 8
Good performance, not fully fit yet it seems.

Victor Lindelof – 8
Chucked all over the place today. Did well all over.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 8
It’s not the first time he has been used at left-back and surprisingly, he seems to be thriving there.

Scott McTominay – 8
Goal-machine. Played a vital role.

Kobbie Mainoo – 9
The 0-0 draw at Anfield was one of the defining moments of Mainoo’s breakthrough season. He was lost in the first 20 minutes of that game but showed maturity to grow into that game and the season. Made Liverpool’s experienced midfielders look like amateurs.

Bruno Fernandes – 8
You can’t watch United and now acknowledge how important Fernandes is to this team. Leads the way like no other player has in the last 10 years.

Marcus Rashford – 8
That one missed chance aside, Rashford was involved in a lot of good.

Alejandro Garnacho – 9
United’s best player. What a talent.

Rasmus Hojlund – 7
Only just coming back from injury. He’ll get better and better.

Substitutes
Antony – 8
His best performance of the season and that would still be the case if he had not scored.

Amad Diallo – 8
He’ll forget about that red card quickly. What a moment for the young winger.

Eriksen, Mount, Maguire – N/A
