Erik ten Hag names three players that could return for Liverpool clash

Manchester United could still secure some silverware this season through the FA Cup, which would secure trophies in back-to-back campaigns for the first time since the 2009/10 and 2010/11 seasons.

United have slipped far behind the top four in the Premier League and as things stand, it is highly unlikely that Erik ten Hag’s men will be able to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

They do, however, have the chance to secure a trip to Wembley next weekend when Liverpool come to Old Trafford for the quarter-final of the FA Cup.

Ten Hag is enduring an injury nightmare at the moment, with the Dutchman forced to play several players out of position to accommodate the lack of personnel.

Victor Lindelof has started the last three games at left-back, with Scott McTominay playing in the most advanced midfield role to make up for the loss of Rasmus Hojlund to injury.

Speaking after this weekend’s 2-0 win over Everton, Ten Hag has delivered some good news on the injury front, naming three players that could be back and ready to feature against Liverpool next week.

“Hopefully, some return,” the manager told talkSPORT, via the official Manchester United website after penalties from Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes got United back to winning ways.

“Aaron Wan-Bissaka was, yesterday, on the pitch. We expect also Harry Maguire back in the squad next week. Rasmus Hojlund has good hope he will make it as well.”

Mason Mount, Luke Shaw and Lisandro Martinez are all expected to be out for longer, with Shaw and Martinez unlikely to feature before the final month of the season.
