Ole Gunnar Solskjaer warns it will take time for Sir Jim Ratcliffe to improve Manchester United

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hopes Erik ten Hag can turn things around at Manchester United and says Sir Jim Ratcliffe is unlikely to have a “magic wand” to immediately make the club successful again.

It has been a dire season on the pitch for the Reds.

From getting knocked out of Europe after a number of abysmal results in the Champions League group stages to fretting over whether we will secure a spot in the top four.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s recent minority purchase of the club from the Glazer family should give fans reason to be excited about the future, with the Ineos Sports group taking control of football operations.

As a result, we are constantly reading reports of uncertainty when it comes to Ten Hag’s future. It is clear that he has yet to be given assurances over his job going into next season.

It is believed that Ratcliffe and co will wait to see if Ten Hag’s side can qualify for next season’s Champions League. The Reds are currently 11 points adrift of fourth-place Aston Villa, with just 11 league games remaining to catch up.

Speaking on the latest Stick to Football podcast, Solskjaer stated that he would like to see Ten Hag succeed at Old Trafford.

“I don’t think there’s a magic wand (at United) as in, ‘We’ve changed the owners,’” Solskjaer said. “They’ve got their ways of working – the Glazers have still got their commercial – who knows how it’s going to be in football with that side of it.

“Obviously Erik, I hope he’s going to be successful. We hope he’s going to make it, but you never know what the new owners are thinking. It’s about results and consistency the rest of the season.”

It doesn’t surprise me that Solskjaer wants the best for Ten Hag because the Norwegian always wants what is best for United.

Solskjaer also knows how difficult it is to work under the Glazer family.
