Dan Ashworth targets €140m Serie A duo on Manchester United wishlist

Dan Ashworth is still waiting to hear when he can officially start work at Manchester United as the club’s new sporting director, after being been placed on gardening leave by Newcastle United in February.

It remains to be seen if United plan to pay a hefty compensation fee to ensure Ashworth can start work as soon as possible, but reports in Italy suggest he’s already busy trying to recruit new signings for the Reds.

According to Inter Live, Ashworth could be at the head of a €140 million double bid in the summer.

The two Serie A players in question include Juventus defender Gleison Bremer and Inter Milan’s Nico Barella. This will add fuel to the fire at Newcastle because they are two players the Magpies have been linked with in the past.

Inter Live claim Ashworth could lead the transfer operation.

Manchester United to make £60m move for Bremer

The Reds were linked with a move for Gleison Bremer last month when it was suggested an offer would be made in the summer.

Bremer, a Brazil international, only signed a new deal with Juventus in December but The Sun claims an offer of £60 million will be enough to lure him to Old Trafford.

Barella would be costly but worthwhile

Inter Milan will demand a premium price for Nico Barella.

A valuation of €80 million has been tipped by sections of the media, but they will likely demand more if they have another good year in the Champions League.

  1. Ashworth can’t do anything until his situation is resolved. Any cloak and dagger stuff and he’ll be sued by NUFC.
