Predicted Manchester United XI vs West Ham: Lisandro Martinez starts despite injury scare

Manchester United welcome West Ham to Old Trafford after going unbeaten in four matches across all competitions. It is a must win for Erik ten Hag’s side if the Reds intend to compete for one of the Champions League spots this season.

It remains to be seen if Erik ten Hag will keep the same line-up from the previous Premier League match, a 4-3 win over Wolves two days ago, but it was arguably Manchester United’s best performance of the season.

For the first 45 minutes at least.

United faded after the break and let Wolves back into the game. The Black Cats were given an extremely soft penalty which helped them claw their way back into the game when we should have been miles ahead.

It is crucial that we build momentum in the league by winning consecutive matches. West Ham dropped points against Bournemouth during the week, and we’ve got a chance to overtake them in the league standings on Sunday.

Without further ado, this is how I think United will line-up against the Hammers, who have won just one of their last 21 trips to Old Trafford.

Andre Onana will start between the sticks.

The back four in front of him will consist of Diogo Dalot, Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez and Luke Shaw.

Kobbie Mainoo and Casemiro need to keep their place in the team because it is important that they get more minutes with each other between now and the remainder of the season. Then we should see Bruno Fernandes further forward.

The front three will be Marcus Rashford, Rasmus Hojlund and Alejandro Garnacho.

Manchester United XI vs West Ham: Onana; Dalot, Varane, Martinez, Shaw; Mainoo, Casemiro, Fernandes; Rashford, Hojlund, Antony.
